FIRST Lego League Robotics team tours Nevada Nanotechnology Center
The FIRST Lego League Robotics team toured the Nevada Nanotechnology Center on August 26th, 2006.
Children, 9 to 14 years old, and their parents received an introduction to nanotechnology and observed some of the high technology equipment used for nanotechnology research at UNLV. Children observed a nanoparticle through an electron microscope and compared its size to a human hair. They also watched an atomic force microscope in action and the unique UNLV Nanodeposition system producing nanoparticles. Some of the children had the opportunity to be in the shoes of a nanotechnology researcher and create nanoparticles themselves. |
