Naod B. Woldesilassie |
Naod is an MS student at UNLV. His research is in the area of Raman Spectroscopy and ways to enhance the inherently weak Raman Signal. His active research is on Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), and Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR). He is currently conducting spectroscopy experiments at NNC lab to determine the optical properties of cadmium telluride nanoparticles fabricated at NNC. His long term goal is to develop a Bio-Sensor by using the ability of SERS to reveal the molecular structure of complex biological molecules. Realization of his ambition will lead to a manufacturing of portable diagnostic tool (lab-on-chip), which will improve the efficiency of medical services and it will enhance the security of military personnel against biological and chemical warfare. |
